BACKGROUND: Eco-anxiety is increasingly recognized as a shared experience by many people internationally, encompassing fear of environmental catastrophe and anxiety about ecological crises. Despite its importance in the context of the changing climate, measures for this construct are still being developed in languages other than English. METHODS: To contribute to global eco-anxiety research, we translated the Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS) into Spanish, creating the HEAS-SP. We validated this measure in samples from both Argentina (n = 990) and Spain (n = 548), performing measurement invariance and confirmatory factor analyses. Internal consistency of the scale and score stability over time were investigated through reliability analyses. Differences in eco-anxiety across sociodemographic variables were explored through Student's t-tests and Pearson's r tests. RESULTS: The four-factor model of the HEAS-SP comprising affective and behavioural symptoms, rumination, and anxiety about personal impact demonstrated excellent model fit. We found good internal consistency for each subscale, and established measurement invariance between Spanish and Argentine samples, as well as across genders and participants' age. Spanish participants reported higher scores on the affective symptoms and personal impact anxiety factors compared to the Argentinian sample. Also, men reported lower levels than women on the subscales of affective symptoms, rumination, and personal impact anxiety. It was found that the relationship between both age and personal impact anxiety and age and affective symptoms varies significantly depending on the gender of the individuals. Younger participants tended to report higher scores on most dimensions of eco-anxiety. CONCLUSIONS: These findings enhance the global initiative to investigate, explore and therefore comprehend eco-anxiety by introducing the first valid and reliable Spanish-language version of this psychometric instrument for its use within Spanish and Argentinian populations. This study augments the body of evidence supporting the robust psychometric properties of the HEAS, as demonstrated in prior validations for Australian, Turkish, Portuguese, German, French, and Italian populations.

BACKGROUND: The relationship between the nurse and the patient with mental health disorder is crucial to the recovery process. Thus, patients with mental health disorders should be active subjects in this relationship by having autonomy and self-determination. METHODS: This study aimed to explore the perspectives of adult patients with mental health disorders on the relationship with nurses. A qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study was conducted in March 2023, using focus group meetings in an association to support patients with severe mental health disorders in the Northern region of Portugal. The study followed the Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research (COREQ). A total of 8 patients participated in the study. Two focus group meetings were conducted. The inductive method was used, and content analysis of the transcripts was performed. The QDA Miner Lite 4.0 and Microsoft Excel were used for content analysis. RESULTS: Participants considered the relationship with nurses important for their recovery and expected nurses to provide support and help, being able to identify their needs, thus personalising their care. Attitudinal and communication aspects were also considered crucial for establishing a solid, trusting, and meaningful relationship. CONCLUSION: According to the findings nursing care is expected to focus on the patient, his/her preferences, expectations, and the uniqueness of each individual. The results of this study may be useful for the reflection and improvement of nurses in their relational and communication skills and the driving force for nursing students' awareness of the perspective of the relationship with patients with mental health disorder and its relevance.

ABSTRACT Objective: To assess the evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions aimed at strengthening self-efficacy beliefs in college students. Methods: Integrative Review conducted on the Lilacs, PubMed, CinahL, Cochrane Collaboration Databases, Scopus, and PsycInfo databases. The methodological quality of the studies was assessed using tools proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute, and the results were analyzed descriptively. Results: Out of the 10 selected studies, six demonstrated that interventions aimed at strengthening self-efficacy were effective (Levels of Evidence II and III), and four revealed contrary results (Levels of Evidence I and II). Programs aimed at enhancing self-efficacy should include content on positive mental health, psychoeducation strategies, cover a period of eight to twelve weeks, and consider the completion of homework assignments. Conclusion: The synthesis of evidence pointed to pathways for building an effective self-efficacy strengthening program to be implemented in universities.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Evaluar las evidencias sobre la efectividad de las intervenciones para fortalecer las creencias de autoeficacia en estudiantes universitarios. Métodos: Revisión Integrativa realizada en las bases de datos Lilacs, PubMed, CinahL, Cochrane Collaboration Databases, Scopus y PsycInfo. La calidad metodológica de los estudios se evaluó utilizando herramientas propuestas por el Instituto Joanna Briggs y los resultados se analizaron de forma descriptiva. Resultados: De los 10 estudios seleccionados, seis demostraron que las intervenciones para fortalecer la autoeficacia fueron efectivas (niveles de evidencia II y III) y cuatro arrojaron resultados contrarios (niveles de evidencia I y II). Los programas dirigidos al fortalecimiento de la autoeficacia deben incluir contenido sobre salud mental positiva, estrategias de psicoeducación, abarcar un período de ocho a doce semanas y considerar la realización de ejercicios para hacer en casa. Conclusión: La síntesis de evidencia señala el camino para la construcción de un programa efectivo de fortalecimiento de las creencias de autoeficacia que debe implementarse en las universidades.

A qualidade metodológica dos estudos foi avaliada por meio de ferramentas propostas pelo Joanna Briggs Institute e os resultados foram analisados de forma descritiva. Resultados: Dos 10 estudos selecionados, seis demonstraram que as intervenções para fortalecer a autoeficácia foram efetivas (níveis de evidências II e III) e quatro revelaram resultados contrários (níveis de evidências I e II). Os programas direcionados ao fortalecimento da autoeficácia devem possuir conteúdo sobre saúde mental positiva, estratégias de psicoeducação, abranger o período de oito a doze semanas e considerar a realização de exercícios para casa. Conclusão: A síntese das evidências apontou caminhos para a construção de um programa efetivo de fortalecimento das crenças de autoeficácia a ser implementado em universidades.

Positive mental health is defined as the ability to perceive and interpret the context of a situation and to adapt to it whenever necessary. Considering the pandemic situation, identifying the factors that may have the greatest impact on quality of life and consequently, on positive mental health is paramount. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of health literacy on the adoption of behaviours that promote positive mental health during COVID-19. A descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational study was conducted on a sample of 770 patients using a questionnaire for sociodemographic characterization, the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire and the Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire. Concerning health-promoting behaviours, those who sleep enough hours, exercise regularly, eat healthy and are more aware of mental health promotion activities, or have greater mental health literacy, have higher positive mental health scores. Thus, having more knowledge of mental health and adopting health-promoting behaviours improve positive mental health.

Background and Purpose: Previous research shows significant benefits resulting from improving culturally competent nursing care. Thus, the purpose of this study was to translate, adapt, and validate the Cultural Competence Assessment (CCA) in a sample of Portuguese nurses. Methods: A psychometric study of the CCA, after translation into European Portuguese, was performed with a snowball sample of 284 nurses. Participants were asked to fill in a sociodemographic questionnaire and the CCA. Results: The four-factor model of the CCA (Portuguese version) exhibited satisfactory indices of fitness without item nine. Cronbach's alpha was 0.85. Correlations between subscales and the total score scale were strong and statistically significant. Conclusions: These data add to the cultural competence knowledge of nurses to promote better practices and culturally competent care.

BACKGROUND: Worsening environmental conditions may amplify people's emotional responses to an environmental crisis (eco-anxiety). In Portugal, young people seem to be especially concerned about climate change. However, this phenomenon needs to be interpreted using accurate instruments. Thus, this study aimed to validate the Portuguese version of the Hogg Eco-Anxiety Scale (HEAS) in young adults and examine the associations among eco-anxiety, sociodemographic characteristics, and pro-environmental behaviours. METHODS: A survey was administered to 623 Portuguese university students aged between 18 and 25 years. The survey included our Portuguese translation of the HEAS (obtained through a back-translation and pretesting process), a sociodemographic assessment, and questions related to pro-environmental behaviours. Confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to assess the construct validity of the Portuguese version of the HEAS, and global fit indices were used to assess whether the original four-dimensional structure of the scale was reproduced. The reliability of the Portuguese version of the HEAS was evaluated by Cronbach's alpha and the intraclass correlation coefficient. Measurement invariance examined sex differences in scale interpretation. Linear regressions were used to detect whether sociodemographic variables predict eco-anxiety and whether eco-anxiety predicts pro-environmental behaviours. RESULTS: The factorial structure of the original scale was replicated in the Portuguese version of the HEAS, showing good internal consistency, reliability over time and strict invariance between men and women. A higher paternal education level predicted greater eco-anxiety in children. Two dimensions of eco-anxiety-namely, rumination and anxiety about personal impacts on the environment-predicted higher engagement in pro-environmental behaviours. CONCLUSIONS: The translated scale is an appropriate tool to measure eco-anxiety in the Portuguese context and should be used to collect evidence to drive environmental and health policies. An individual's education level should be considered a determinant of their emotional response to environmental conditions. Importantly, eco-anxiety can act as a protective emotional response to preserving the planet.

Low mental health literacy levels have a profound negative effect on healthcare outcomes, usage of healthcare services and healthcare expenditure. To date, there is little research and a lack of instruments available to address and assess positive mental health literacy levels in community-dwelling adults. Thus, this study sought to develop an instrument to assess positive mental health literacy in adults and to evaluate its psychometric properties. A scale developed in European Portuguese and composed of 32 items was designed to assess positive mental health literacy among community-dwelling adults and was validated using exploratory factor analysis. Five latent factors were identified (decision making, prosocial attitudes, perception of resources, community involvement, and problem solving), whose hypothesised structure was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis using structural equation modelling. Evidence showed that the scale's factor structure is reliable and valid and adequately represents the theorised constructs. Thus, this may be a useful assessment tool for clinical practice since it will allow a more rigorous assessment of positive mental health literacy and better mental health promotion interventions in the population.

BACKGROUND: The nurse-patient therapeutic relationship is considered a pillar of mental health nursing, contributing to improved person-centered care and shared decision making with the patient. Given the importance of the nurse-patient therapeutic relationship, appropriate evaluation instruments are required to assess its quality. The aim of this study was to adapt and validate the Spanish version of the Therapeutic Relationship Assessment Scale-Nurse. METHODS: A translation and back-translation of the scale was carried out. To analyze the psychometric properties, the scale was administered to 213 nurses working in the field of mental health care. Temporal stability or test-retest was examined by means of the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) in a sample of 100 nurses. RESULTS: Confirmatory Factor Analysis revealed a four-factor structure identical to the original version, with some poor model fit indices. The ordinal alpha values for the total scale and the four factors were 0.939, 0.654, 0.798, 0.801, and 0.866, respectively. The intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.928 (95% CI: 0.893-0.952). CONCLUSIONS: The results show that the Spanish version of the Therapeutic Relationship Assessment Scale-Nurse is reliable for determining the quality of the therapeutic relationship that mental health nurses can establish with their patients. However, more studies are needed to analyse the model fit of the instrument's factor structure in the Spanish population.

Resumo Introdução: Estudo centra-se no conhecimento da literacia e da saúde mental positiva, em jovens do ensino secundário. Objetivos: Identificar os fatores de vulnerabilidade e proteção de jovens do ensino secundário na ilha da Madeira. Metodologia: Investigação quantitativa, descritiva. Estudo piloto realizado na ilha da Madeira, com estudantes do ensino secundário (n=1948), idades entre 15-18 anos, mediante consentimento informado dos participantes e encarregados de educação. Colheita dados: "Questionário de Literacia e Saúde Mental Positiva", versão Estudantes do Ensino Secundário (QSM+VEESec) (Ribeiro, Sequeira, Ferreira, Carvalho e Pires, 2018). Aplicação online entre março/junho 2021. Resultados: Os resultados mostram relevância entre fatores de vulnerabilidade e proteção na saúde mental. Verificou-se que 9,9% dos estudantes referiu ter alguns problemas de saúde mental; 9,3% recorreu a algum serviço de saúde devido a problema saúde mental; 29,7% referiu ter tido ou ter algum acompanhamento psiquiátrico. Dos fatores vulnerabilidade salienta-se: 42,4% não está satisfeito com seu sono; 46,1% considera não dormir horas suficientes para suas necessidades; 4,5% e 4,8%, respetivamente toma medicação regular para dormir e para algum problema saúde mental; 48,6% não pratica exercício físico regular. Dos possíveis fatores protetores, verifica-se que apresentam fracos indicadores, nomeadamente: 78,2% não participa em atividades recreativas; 43,7% não está satisfeito com sua relação afetiva e consomem substâncias (bebidas alcoólicas: 26,4% e drogas mais de três vezes por semana 3,4%). Conclusão: Os jovens apresentam problemas de saúde mental: ansiedade, depressão, consumos álcool, substâncias ilícitas. Destaca-se a falta de interação social, a ausência de participação em atividades recreativas e insatisfação nos relacionamentos afetivos.


Abstract Introduction: Study focuses on the knowledge of literacy and positive mental health, in secondary school youth. Objectives: Identify the vulnerabitity and protective and vulnerability of secondary school students on the Island of Madeira. Methodology: Quantitative, descriptive research. A pilot study conducted on the island of Madeira, with secondary school students (n=1948), aged between 15-18 years, with the informed consent of the participants and parents. Data collection: "Literacy and Positive Mental Health Questionnaire", version Secondary School Students (QSM+VEESec) (Ribeiro, Sequeira, Ferreira, Carvalho and Pires, 2018). Online application between March/June 2021. Results: The results show relevance between vulnerability and protective factors in mental health. It was found that 9.9% of the students reported having some mental health problems 9.3% resorted to some health service due to mental health problem; 9.3% resorted to some health service due to mental health problem; 29.7% reported having had or had some psychiatric follow-up. Of the vulnerability factors, the following stand out: 42.4% are not satisfied with their sleep; 46.1% consider not getting enough sleep for their needs; 4.5% and 4.8%, respectively, take regular medication for sleep and for some mental health problem; 48.6% do not practice regular physical exercise. Of the possible protective factors, it is verified that they present weak indicators, namely: 78.2% do not participate in recreational activities; 43.7% are not satisfied with their affective relationship and consume substances (alcoholic beverages: 26.4% and drugs more than three times a week 3.4%). Conclusion: Young people have mental health problems: anxiety and depression, alcohol consumption and illicit substances. The lack of social interaction, the absence of participation in recreational activities and dissatisfaction in affective relationships stand out.

De los factores de vulnerabilidad, se destacan: 42,4% no están satisfechos con su sueño; El 46,1% considera que no duerme lo suficiente para sus necesidades; 4,5% y 4,8%, respectivamente, toman medicamentos regulares para dormir y para algún problema de salud mental; El 48,6% no practica ejercicio físico regular. De los posibles factores protectores, se verifica que presentan indicadores débiles, a saber: 78,2% no participan en actividades recreativas; 43,7% no están satisfechos con su relación afectiva y consumen sustancias (bebidas alcohólicas: 26,4% y drogas más de tres veces a la semana 3,4%). The complexity of the problems related to the harmful use of substances requires regular questioning of practices. This article aims to explore the acceptability and applicability of an intervention programme for patients with problematic substance use. Qualitative study. Data collection, through a focus group with 6 nurses and 6 semi-structured interviews with patients under treatment. We have used lexicographic textual analysis. From the focus group, 151 text segments were analysed, retaining 85.8% of the total for the creation of five classes. An analysis of similarity led to the formation of two central nuclei, represented by the words "Nursing" and "Intervention". From interviews, 252 text segments were analysed, retaining 71.83% for the creation of 5 classes. An analysis of similarity led to the formation of three central nuclei, represented by the words "want", "programme" and "see". Nurses recognise the need for a more structured and flexible approach focused on people's needs. Users also affirm the need for flexible interventions, without a pre-established time frame, that promote labour integration, therapeutic support for abstinence and management of comorbidities.


A complexidade dos problemas relacionados com o uso problemático de substâncias requer questionamento regular das práticas. O objetivo deste artigo é explorar a aceitabilidade e a aplicabilidade de um programa de intervenção com pessoas dependentes de substâncias. Estudo qualitativo. Recolha de dados, realizada através de 1 grupo focal com 6 enfermeiros e 6 entrevistas semiestruturadas a usuários em tratamento. Utilizou-se à análise textual lexicográfica. No grupo focal, foram analisados 151 segmentos de texto, retendo 85,8% do total para a criação de cinco classes. A análise de similitude conduziu à formação de dois núcleos centrais, representados pelas palavras: Enfermeiro e Intervenção. Das entrevistas, foram analisados 252 segmentos de texto, retendo 71,83% para a criação de 5 classes. A análise de similitude conduziu à formação de três núcleos centrais, representados pelas palavras: querer, programa e ver. Os enfermeiros reconhecem a necessidade de uma abordagem mais estruturada, centrada nas necessidades das pessoas e flexível. Os usuários, acrescentam a necessidade de ser flexível, sem tempo definido à partida, promovendo trabalho, suporte terapêutico para abstinência e gestão das comorbilidades.

BACKGROUND: Mental Health First Aid Training Programmes can be carried out by nurses in schools. Adolescents have reported the importance of these interventions, the contents to be addressed, and intervention strategies that should be used. Mental health nurses have also discussed the characteristics of these training programmes. This study sought to create a consensus on the features of Mental Health First Aid Training Programmes promoted by nurses aimed at upper secondary students. METHODS: A descriptive mixed method study was developed using the modified e-Delphi technique. Original statements on the topic were drawn from the results section of previous studies with nurses and adolescents. The statements were included in a structured online questionnaire. An expert panel of 78 mental health nurses participated in the two-rounds online survey from October to December 2021. Absolute and relative frequencies of responses were analysed. The experts' comments were also considered. RESULTS: In the first round, experts suggested 4 new ideas about training programmes. Experts took a position on a total of 59 declarations. At least 75% of participants agreed with 58 statements about training programmes, namely about facilitators, intervention foci, evaluation methodology, participants, the implementation context, period and regularity, intervention strategies and content. The experts' opinions differed only in one statement that expressed the impaired sexual behaviour as a mental health problem to be addressed in the training programmes. CONCLUSIONS: Mental health nurses can lead the delivery of training programmes in upper secondary schools, improving adolescent competencies in mental health. Several educational approaches can be used to teach about mental health, related problems and actions underlying these conditions. Valid and appropriate assessment methods must be used. Our findings guide the planning, implementation and evaluation of these interventions in upper secondary schools and encourage nurses to explore these programmes and include them in their educational curricula.

Resumo A complexidade dos problemas relacionados com o uso problemático de substâncias requer questionamento regular das práticas. O objetivo deste artigo é explorar a aceitabilidade e a aplicabilidade de um programa de intervenção com pessoas dependentes de substâncias. Estudo qualitativo. Recolha de dados, realizada através de 1 grupo focal com 6 enfermeiros e 6 entrevistas semiestruturadas a usuários em tratamento. Utilizou-se à análise textual lexicográfica. No grupo focal, foram analisados 151 segmentos de texto, retendo 85,8% do total para a criação de cinco classes. A análise de similitude conduziu à formação de dois núcleos centrais, representados pelas palavras: Enfermeiro e Intervenção. Das entrevistas, foram analisados 252 segmentos de texto, retendo 71,83% para a criação de 5 classes. A análise de similitude conduziu à formação de três núcleos centrais, representados pelas palavras: querer, programa e ver. Os enfermeiros reconhecem a necessidade de uma abordagem mais estruturada, centrada nas necessidades das pessoas e flexível. Os usuários, acrescentam a necessidade de ser flexível, sem tempo definido à partida, promovendo trabalho, suporte terapêutico para abstinência e gestão das comorbilidades.


Abstract The complexity of the problems related to the harmful use of substances requires regular questioning of practices. This article aims to explore the acceptability and applicability of an intervention programme for patients with problematic substance use. Qualitative study. Data collection, through a focus group with 6 nurses and 6 semi-structured interviews with patients under treatment. We have used lexicographic textual analysis. From the focus group, 151 text segments were analysed, retaining 85.8% of the total for the creation of five classes. An analysis of similarity led to the formation of two central nuclei, represented by the words "Nursing" and "Intervention". From interviews, 252 text segments were analysed, retaining 71.83% for the creation of 5 classes. An analysis of similarity led to the formation of three central nuclei, represented by the words "want", "programme" and "see". Nurses recognise the need for a more structured and flexible approach focused on people's needs. Users also affirm the need for flexible interventions, without a pre-established time frame, that promote labour integration, therapeutic support for abstinence and management of comorbidities.

Over the last years, there have been several studies that have shown insufficient levels of adolescents' mental health literacy (MHL). Knowledge about intervention programs that promote positive mental health literacy (PMeHL) among adolescents is still very scarce. In this sense, we defined as objectives to identify and describe the necessary components to design a program proposal that promotes adolescents' PMeHL. We conducted an exploratory, descriptive, qualitative study using two focus groups in July and September 2022 with an intentional non-probability sample of eleven participants (nine professional experts and two adolescents). Data were analyzed using content analysis, using NVivo® 12 software (version 12, QRS International: Daresbury Cheshire, UK). We obtained a total of four categories and eighteen subcategories: structure (context; format; contents; length and frequency; pedagogical methods; pedagogical techniques; resources; denomination), participants (target group; program facilitators), assessment (timing; evaluation instruments), other components (planning, articulation and adaptation; involvement; training; special situations; partnerships; referral). The perspectives of the professional experts and of the adolescents that we obtained from this study contributed to the design of a proposal for a program to promote adolescents' PMeHL.

The mental health of higher education students is a constant concern, and the pandemic situation caused by COVID-19 has intensified this concern. The social measures imposed to control and minimize the disease have led, among other things, to the reconfiguration of higher education students' academic life habits, which has naturally altered their emotional balance, mental health, and substance abuse. This cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study assesses the influence of higher education students' personal characteristics on their (self-reported) use of addictive substances (alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and pharmaceutical drugs) before and during their first compulsory confinement in Portugal, as well as its relationship with mental health. An online questionnaire was applied between 15 April and 20 May 2020, to students from various study cycles of higher education institutions in one region of Portugal (northern area of Alentejo), which included the Mental Health Inventory in its reduced version (MHI-5) and questions (constructed by the authors) on personal characterization and on the use of addictive substances before and during confinement. The convenience sample included 329 mostly female health care students between the ages of 18 and 24. In our results, we found a statistically significant decrease in tobacco, alcohol, and drug use; however, there was an increase in tobacco use among older students and an increase in anxiolytic use among students with higher academic achievement and among students who exhibited more active social behavior in the period prior to confinement. Students who took anxiolytics during confinement had higher MHI-5 scores and students who used the most addictive substances during confinement had lower MHI-5 scores than the other students.

A significant part of the worldwide population is affected by some mental disorder. Previous research conducted with the general population has revealed poor knowledge when it comes to mental health. Therefore, it is imperative to assess mental health literacy using robust assessment tools. Thus, this study aimed to translate, adapt and assess the psychometric properties of the Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire in a sample of higher education students in Portugal. This study used a sample consisting of 2887 participants. Internal consistency for the psychometric study was estimated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Construct validity was tested using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. After data analysis, the final Portuguese version of the Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire was composed of 14 items. The goodness-of-fit indices were adequate, confirming the quality of the model's fit to the empirical data (χ²/df = 2.459, GFI = 0.983, CFI = 0.969, RMSEA = 0.032, RMR = 0.023, SRMR = 0.032). This assessment tool is valid and reliable to assess higher education students' mental health literacy in Portugal. Analyses to confirm the scale's external validity, measurement equivalence and replicability are still required.

Early intervention programs for first-episode psychosis aim to intervene in the early stages of the disease. They are essential to prevent and delay the progression of the illness to a more advanced stage, but information about their characteristics is not systematized. The scoping review considered all studies of first-episode psychosis intervention programs, regardless of their context (hospital or community), and explored their characteristics. The scoping review was developed according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines. The PCC mnemonic (population, concept, and context) addressed research questions, the inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the search strategy. The scoping review sought to identify the literature that meets the predefined inclusion criteria. The research was conducted in the following databases: Web of Science Core Collection, MEDLINE, CINAHL Complete and PsycINFO, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and JBI Evidence Synthesis. The search for unpublished studies included OpenGrey (a European repository) and MedNar. It used sources in English, Portuguese, Spanish, and French. It included quantitative, qualitative, and multi-method/mixed methods studies. It also considered gray or unpublished literature. After removing duplicates, two independent reviewers extracted the relevant information after selecting the articles. If there were disagreements, a third reviewer was used. The researchers have developed a tool based on the JBI model that will allow them to extract the relevant information for the review. The results are presented schematically in narratives and tables. This scoping review maps first-episode psychosis intervention programs by identifying their characteristics, participants, and specific implementation contexts and allows researchers to create multicomponent programs tailored to different contexts.

Therapeutic interventions for people with problematic use of psychoactive substances can help tackle specific needs related to substance addiction consequences. This modified e-Delphi study aimed to establish consensus on a training program for self-management of substance addiction consequences. The study was conducted between February and April 2022, with an experts' sample of 28 participants in the first round and 24 in the second. A priori consensus criteria were defined for each round. The results revealed a very strong consensus was achieved on the structure of the program and on clinical areas, such as the problematic use of substances, general health knowledge, health-seeking behavior and adherence, self-knowledge and well-being, social role and personal dignity, and family process. Additionally, over 80% participant consensus was achieved on an extensive number of interventions categorized as psychoeducational, psychotherapeutic, socio therapeutic, brief interventions, social skills training, problem solving techniques, relaxation techniques, and counseling. These findings may be able to fulfill a gap concerning structured treatment approaches for people with problematic use of psychoactive substances. Supporting self-management of the consequences of substance addiction and its application can change nurses' interventions.

Although many instruments are used to assess the families of people with diabetes, their measurement properties have not been systematically reviewed. We aimed to identify and evaluate the psychometric properties of the instruments used to assess family functioning in adults with diabetes. METHODS: A systematic literature review, according to the JBI systematic reviews of measurement properties, was conducted using different databases, including gray literature. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42021239733. Two independent reviewers searched, screened, and assessed the risk of bias among the articles according to the COSMIN methodology. The quality of each included instrument was assessed using the updated criteria for good measurement properties. RESULTS: Eighty-one studies were included, and thirty-one eligible instruments were identified. The psychometric properties frequently assessed were structural validity, internal consistency, and construct validity. CONCLUSIONS: Although 31 instruments were included, none of their psychometric properties were scored as "very good". From the instruments scored as adequate on development and content validity, five stood out for their quality appraisal.. The development of new instruments is not recommended. More studies should be conducted on the existing instruments to assess the less commonly evaluated psychometric properties. Using valid instruments to develop and evaluate interventions is essential to promote health literacy and the effectiveness of diabetes management.

Since mid-March 2020, a state of emergency was decreed in Portugal due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, consequently, measures were implemented to protect public health, such as social isolation, which will certainly have a notable impact on the mental health of the population, especially in the most vulnerable groups. Positive Mental Health (PMH) is essential to deal with adversity, in this case with the pandemic, and to live better and with greater satisfaction. We consider it relevant to investigate how PMH was used as a resource to deal with the pandemic, depending on the level of vulnerability and sex. A, cross-sectional study was carried out whose the aim was to evaluate the levels of PMH and psychological vulnerability in people with COVOD-19 infection and analyze the association between PMH and psychological vulnerability among men and women. METHODS: The instruments used were a sociodemographic characterization questionnaire, the Positive Mental Health Questionnaire, and the Psychological Vulnerability Scale (PVS), that were sent and filled out online. A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, and correlational study was carried out. RESULTS: After analyzing the results, it was found that approximately 50.4% of the respondents (n = 387) had global PMH values that place them in quartile 50. There was also a statistically significant difference between female and male PMH, with women showing greater psychological vulnerability and lower overall PMH. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that the women present a greater psychological vulnerability and a lower level of PMH when compared to men. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Considering the study's statistically significant results, when we talk about mental health, we should always consider the sex variable as a vulnerability factor, in a pandemic or non-pandemic phase.
